About Me

I am graduating from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications in May of 2023. As a student at Cronkite, I have had experience in reporting, videography, photography, video editing and social media. Videography is where I've excelled the most. When I took my first videography class I had never picked up a camera before. I was able to impress my professor enough to get chosen to be his summer intern over people that had years more experience than I did. I continued to impress my professor throughout my internship and became a freelance videographer for his company, Take It Easley Productions. The fact that I have less experience than my competition has never scared me, rather, its fueled me. Most students in the field have had the privilege of doing videography for their high school sports teams. My high school didn't have any sports teams so I didn't have that advantage going in. Having a chip on my shoulder is nothing new to me. I come from a family of immigrants. My mother immigrated to the U.S. from Guatemala when she was young and my family didn't have anything to call their own when they came over. They had to work for everything they have and that work ethic has made its way into me.

Growing up in a bilingual household allowed me to pursue opportunities in translations. I currently work at the State Press as the magazine translator where I've collaborated with reporters to bring their articles to the Hispanic population at ASU and abroad. As the only translator for the magazine I have translated 9 magazines in the span of a year. I have also written two articles for the Spanish magazines. Last semester I joined the Cronkite News professional program to expand my skills in TV production and directing. I am continuing to do it this semester as well, and have produced several shows where I was directing and technical directing. In the professional program I have worked extensively in Photoshop and After Effects making graphics for newscasts.
